In the summer, fresh flowers are the best ornament you can have in your living room. So, take those flower vases out and prepare them for display. A good majority of your family will be spending time outdoors. It’s the time of the year for backyard pool parties and barbeques after all. So, you will need to prepare outdoor lounging and dining areas. If you are willing to spend some money, it will be worthwhile to redesign an area and install lovely outdoor tiles. If not, you can take out a dining table and some chairs to make a dining area under the shade of trees.

3. Replace Winter Curtains

Those thick curtains that kept your family warm during the winter need to go. In the summer, windows are best left bare. If you really need curtains, choose thin ones that flutter in the warm summer wind. Pick bright colours like yellow that complement the season. You can also choose a non-curtain alternative like bamboo blinds that will give you more control in letting in the light. In any case, it’s important to keep the windows unobscured.

4. Make Rooms Minimalist

It’s normal in winter to cram rooms with furniture for lounging. It’s impossible to go outside so where else can you sit and read? Come summer, anticipate the fact that people move in and out of the house a lot. People will be moving within rooms a lot too, especially when guests come over for the holidays. So, you need to remove unnecessary furniture and allow plenty of space between each piece of furniture. Aim for a minimalist look, because that’s the best for the summer.

5. Add Colour to Each Room

Don’t be shy to add bold shades here and there in each room. You can choose bright coloured ornaments, cushions, upholstery and so on. Let the charm of the season be known in your interior design style.

6. Treat Sunlight like a Decoration

Each room must be flooded with sunlight to get the best out of summer. So, as mentioned above, try to keep windows bare and open. Allow in plenty of sunlight, which will make staying indoors very pleasant.

7. Remove Obstacles Near Doors

Additionally, remember to keep doorways clear of obstacles that can get in the way when people move in and out. Try the minimalist design mentioned above.

If you follow the above tips, you will have a gorgeous looking house for the summer.
